Learning how to stay well and look after our selves

More and more people who have learning disabilities are moving towards independence. In lifeskills we look at the skills we need to stay well, safe and as independent as we can. We learn about money, telling the time, how to travel safely and which bus to catch!

We have been working on a cookbook with healthy food in it and all of it is made in the microwave. We also like to use our local libraries and community centres; some of us now use them on our own to change books and go to other classes.

Lifeskills is available as part of our daytime activities programme. There is a charge if you want to come to OPAL for daytime activities but you can use the money out of your Individual Budget to pay for these.

For more information on our charges, please contact us.
